Remote Buddy 1.0
Tuesday, June 6, 2006 12:26 PM EST
IOSpirit today released the Remote Buddy 1.0 Preview, a Universal Binary application for Apple's Remote that allows Intel Macs to integrate with both Front Row and EyeTV 2 plus. The software also allows users to control other applications as well as the mouse and keyboard via the remote control. Remote Buddy offers plug-ins "Behaviors" for iTunes, Keynote 3, PowerPoint, Photo Booth, QuickTime Player, EyeTV 2, DVD Player, VLC Media Player and Real Player. If there isn't a specific "Behavior" tailored to your favorite application, you can use the virtual keyboard and mouse to move the mouse cursor, drag and drop items, open context menus and make a selection, emulate cursor keys or replay strings you have previously entered. Mac mini HTPC enthusiasts may find that some of the keyboard and mouse features come in handy for controlling Safari or Firefox.
Remote Buddy 1.0 Preview is available for Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later as a Universal Binary at an introductory price of $12.90. IOSpirit also offers a 30-day trial version of Remote Buddy with full functionality.
