Two Turntables and a Mac mini
Wednesday October 5, 2005 5:14 AM EST
Dave wrote in to tell us about Sharon's Mac mini powered DJ Console. What makes this DJ Console special? Well, for starters, the DJ Console is built into the back of Sharon's totally tricked out 2004 Cadillac Escalade. The DJ Console itself consists of a Mac mini, Hercules DJ Console, and 30" BenQ LCD display. DJs can mix, scratch, and cut with MP3s stored on the Mac mini's hard drive. All the audio is pumped, and we mean pumped through the Escalade's massive audio system.
The Hercules DJ Console connects via USB and runs with TRAKTOR DJ Studio 2.5 software from Native Instruments. It is possible to control nearly any parameter of the software via the Hercules DJ Console's sliders, buttons, knobs and jog wheels. The Mac mini is also used for playing DVDs, listening to iTunes, and showing iPhoto slideshows of the Escalade being built.
