VMware Releases Fusion 3.0.1 Update

VMware has announced the release of Fusion 3.0.1, an update to their popular virtualization software for Intel-based Macs. According to the company, this version of the software brings a couple new features, improves performance and fixes over 50 bugs. Here are some of the highlights:
Improved 3D & Video Performance - Improved WDDM driver and 3D backend improvements speed up some applications and tests up to 80% on Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) - Full support for Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit & 64-bit editions

Even More 64-bit Support - Networking subsystem now 64-bit native to match 64-bit core engine

Easier Move to VMware Fusion - Import standalone VHD virtual disks and Parallels Desktop 5 virtual machines into VMware virtual machines

Improved Resume Times - Reduced time for resuming virtual machines

Performance Update - Addresses performance slow downs seen by some users due to older VMware Tools and the Virtual Machine Library

Shared/Mirrored Folders Improvements - Incompatibilities with Zone Alarms AV and Outlook 2007 Preview mode resolved
Registered users of Fusion 3 can download the update here or use the software's automatic update feature. The update itself weighs in at 415MB and requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later. For new users, Fusion 3 is priced at $79.99.
