Elgato today announced the release of Video Capture. According to the company, Video Capture is a complete and easy-to-use solution for transferring analog video to a Mac, iPhone or iPod. It allows users to connect VCRs, set top boxes, camcorders, DVD players, and other analog video sources to their Mac via USB 2.0. The software included with the device then records the video in either H.264 or MPEG-4 formats.
The Video Capture supports NTSC, PAL, PAL/60 and SECAM input video standards and records video at resolutions up to 640 x 480 pixels. Users can select between 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratios and trim the beginning and end of recordings. All you need is a Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor running Mac OS X 10.5.6 or later.
The Elgato Video Capture is shipping now and can be purchased at the Elgato Online Store for $99.95. It will also be available at Apple retail stores and other local Mac resellers shortly.
