News App Store Reaches One Billion Downloads Thursday, April 23, 2009 - 5:41 PM EST Posted by: Glenn Apple today announced that the App Store has reached one billion downloads. According to the company, the winner of the "One Billion App Countdown Promotion" will be announced soon. By the way, it only took Apple nine months to reach this milestone. I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty darn impressive. [Update:] The one billionth app, Bump created by Bump Technologies, was downloaded by Connor Mulcahey, age 13, of Weston, CT. As the grand prize winner of Apple's one billion app countdown contest, Connor will receive a $10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule and a MacBook Pro.
