Google today announced the release of Google Earth 5.0, a new version of their popular geographic information software. According to the company, users of Google Earth 5.0 can now dive beneath the ocean's surface, explore three-dimensional images of the underwater terrain and view articles and videos about marine science. Google Earth 5.0 also introduces Historical Imagery, a feature that enables users to virtually travel back in time through archival satellite and aerial imagery, Touring, which makes it simple to create a narrated tour in Google Earth and share it with the world and Google Mars 3D, which features hi-res imagery and terrain of the red planet.
Google Earth 5.0 weighs in at 35MB and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
