Fernando R's setup
My setup:
- Mac Mini (1.83 - 2GB Ram - 160GB HD)
- MacPro ( 2 x Xeon 3Gz - 8GB Ram - 4 x Raptor HD 150Gb - ATI Radeon X1900XT)
- MacBook (1.83 - 1GB Ram - 60GB HD)
- MacBook Pro (2.00 - 2GB Ram - 100GB HD)
- 2 x Apple Cinema Display 30"
- Apple Wireless Keyboard
- Logitec MX Evolution
- Creative iTrigue Speakers
- Creative Xmod
- 2 x Lacie Bigger Disk Extreme FW800 2TB
- iPod 60 GB
- Playstation Portable (PSP)

The Mac Mini is being used as a download and file server (24/7) and being connected only by RemoteDesktop. The ACDs are connected to the Mac Pro.

I still haven't hidden away all the cables... when I get more time I'll get to it.

Wow, If it's not a rude question, what do you use all those macs for, is it for work as well as play? it looks like you went to your local Apple store and just bought one of everything! (yeah, maybe I'm a bit jealous!) good call on the white psp btw!

Your setup sucks man! It's so weak you need to squeeze an imac in between the the ACDs, you'll need a bigger desk but oh well. I'm kidding, what do you need all that horsepower for?

Is this an Apple testing facility? Why not put the Mac mini in the den for HTPC duties?

That's like 15k worth of gear from Apple!

HAHAHA, man, if I had that kinda money, thats exactly what i would do, spend it all at the apple store!

This setup is mainly used for work mostly for HD Video editing and programming. As I wrote, the MacMini is a file server and a download manager server. For HTPC I have no need for it because I have a Kiss DP600 which does the job quite well (it ouputs at 1080p to my 46X2000 Sony 1080p) so I can easily what my HD videos. Yes, I am an Apple converted man. Switched only in June this year with the MacBook Pro and now I hate Windows! I even offered my daughter an iMac 24" for her 5th birthday so that she can play games and what her entire (converted) DVD collection on the fly. And yes, all you see + the iMac 24" cost around 22.000€. Best money well spent, ever

Hello Fernando, saw that you also "top-graded" your Mini 2GB/160GB. Do you have any noise issue from the fan? I sent my mini back yesterday, heard the fan from 5-6m distance.
fernando [Dec 08, 2006 at 05:30 AM]
No, I hear no noise from the fan. The system is whisper quiet and is connected 24/7 with the processor running around 50% at all times and the HD being acessed frequently. You got a defective fan.
