Myopia Maxed out mini
The size and stackability of the Mac Mini and the griping on forums about missing features and perceived slights got me thinking about what additional devices would be needed to really make everyone happy.

Awesome Job, i't looks real clean. I would like to see an iPod mount front and center though.

If Apple made all these parts plan on dishing out 2K!

I think this mod is where they got the idea for the minimate and m9
Anon [Jun 01, 2005 at 11:47 PM]
damn you-I thought of this first-only thing I would add is a front slot loading hard drive enclosure

I like the itunes part, include a DVB-T tuner with CI in it and you've got your ultimate media center

Nice! So what do all the added parts do? Is the part under the Mini a receiver of sorts?

yeah, see, the mac mini lacks features for a reason. keeps costs down. how much would all that crap cost?
Anon [Oct 22, 2005 at 10:51 PM]
what do the 3rd and 5th parts do? (or are they just for looks?) and ah, anon the companies could make this as an ADD - ON!
Carl J. Hornsby [Nov 26, 2005 at 08:24 PM]
Dude, that really is a good idea! But make the extra add ons like an ipod port for all sizes of ipod-including the nano. An stackable module that has a 256 MB graphics card in it that has one DVI port from the mini and another port to the monitor. It would have to have a Firewire connection to communicate with the motherboard properly. Include this with the miniStack and your mini and you got one wicked mini!

Awesome design; one additional feature everyone wants seems to be an iPod port; you could add it as a flush mounted dock on one of the speakers?...seamless integration! If Apple created these components as add-ons you could control the cost of your machine. Personnally, I would get it all!

Card reader definetly needs a cover. OVERHEATING!!! Ipod dock would be cool. (Slot loading tape drive style!) Second layer from top obsolete (front row), Bottom layer stupid, headphone jack should be on the front of the mac anyways. Usbports should go in a ring around the mini (Dvi, video in/out should go on the back of the ring). This is too big.
Blaine [Feb 07, 2006 at 09:39 PM]
AWESOME, now if they would only do that. and make it with Front Row and Camera capabilities...

save the mac mini
marv [Feb 11, 2006 at 07:32 PM]
excellent.. i would love to see more companies such as el gato come out with stackable products for the mini
Anon [Mar 05, 2006 at 04:28 PM]
All you need is a holographic projector on top and an ipod dock made of legos(so it works with whatever ipod Steve Jobs decides to release the next week, and the week after that...) and you're set!
Anon [Mar 20, 2006 at 10:24 PM]
If you could only smoke it
Jeff [Mar 24, 2006 at 11:56 AM]
The Idea of the mac mini is supposed to be MINI right????
dungeon92 [Apr 25, 2006 at 08:55 PM]
just make the card reader and hub an all aluminum case at leat in front otherwise matching cases would be hard to find.
Anon [May 19, 2006 at 05:17 PM]
where can I buy this?
Anon [May 29, 2006 at 02:17 PM]
imacDave [Jun 05, 2006 at 12:45 AM]
Now all you need are a couple of Audiophile companies like Mark Levinson and Thiel to design the Electronics and Speakers.
Anon [Jun 26, 2006 at 04:56 PM]
Audiophile components would work if the music wasn't a lossy compressed format (why can't I get my itunes in wav?)
