Makro's Mac mini setup
|
|
Mac Mini 1.42 with Olevia 26” widescreen LCD monitor, running PIP (Olympics hockey). Final Cut Pro really likes the big screen! Also shown: 160GB external HD (FW/USB2), Netgear WGE111 “Gaming Adaptor” connects Mini’s Ethernet jack to home 802.11g network.

Tape is holding plastic film, or a screen protector ? Nice setup man.

Thanks! Never got around to pulling off the protective shipping sheet. Does seem to keep the dust off. You can barely see the tape and sheet in normal room light. The Olevia is very bright - I've got the backlight set to 'dark'!

What resolution are you running? It could just be the size, but it looks wide.

|
|
set your resolution on 1280*768 'cause your monitor is wider than a 4/3 or even 16/10 (apple) monitor it's a 16/9

Olevia

It's a Syntax Olevia LT26HVX ($499 at CompUSA on New Year's Day - no rebates). Native res is 1366x768 but it autoscales up to 1280x1024. I've got the Mini running at 1280x1024, through the DVI output. You're right, it is stretched (actually squashed). Olevia says there's no way to force VGA or DVI to display at 4:3. The only perfect match between monitor and mini is 1280x720 via VGA. But I'm using the VGA input on the LCD for a terrestrial HD receiver feed.

If it's squashed how does it look during regular stuff?

The monitor displays any 16:9 signal beautifully. It's only when you try to feed it something like 1280x1024 (15:12) that verticals get squished. Off-air widescreen HDTV Olympic coverage has been great!

It's the '256-bit grayscale' look!
