James T Kirk's Mac mini setup
|
MacMini PPC 1.5 Secretly upgraded version with 64 mb Video RAM, 1Gb PQI Memory, Newer Tech Mini Stack with Seagate Barracuda 200 Gb, LaCie Firewire D2 with 160 Gb Hitachi Deskstar, LaCie Firewire D2 with Pioneer DVR 110D (LaCie makes great external cases, but I decide myself what to put inside! :-) ), LaCie USB floppy disc (handy!) Belkin 7-ports USB 2.0 hub, Hercules Gamesurround Muse Pockett LT external Audio Adapter Hewlett for the microphone In of the Ccandu.com design microphone. Packard W19 Widescreen with Dvi, a secret tip: one third of the price of an ACD, but certainly not one third of it's quality! Logitach Quickcam Zoom through IOXperts drivers, otherwise it looks like cr*p.. Soundsystem: Bang & Olufsen Beovox CX 50 on the desk on IKEA stands, under the desk the passive but powerfull sub in the form of an grey round styled ottoman/footstool, this all powered with an other classic: Braun R1 receiver from the Atelier series (an recordplayer sits on top of it, the Braun P1, a casettedeck C1 needs some new parts, so is not here) Also not in the picture: an Epson Perfection 1240 U scanner and a Canon i560 bubblejet printer.
To be upgraded in the near future: The Inland Mac-compatible 71100 keyboard (not a bad board though, but wired) and the Logitech Cordless Click Plus for a Logitech S530 cordless keyboard/lasermouse combo and maybe the LaCie D2 HD by a "Bigger Disc" Later on a Intel Mac Mini, but it still works for me maybe not as fast as the test Intel machines, but how many Universal programmes are there now?

Nice gear! Got the same screen, value for money! Setup would look greater if the desk were cleaned up.. Is that Whiskey-cola btw?

Let's play Find The Mini!

I know, I have a very small glass + metal desk and hardly closetspace, so that's why it looks somewhat cluttered, anyway it's about the best I can do. Oh, and the liquid in the glass is just tea, late at night sometimes it might change to brandy however!

Wow. With all your negative comments and criticism on other people's pages I would have thought your setup would be drop dead gorgeous. Apparently it's far from that...

@diulei: So, in your opninion only people are allowed to make upbuilding comments if they are very rich with a big house/space and lots of money to buy the newest and greatest? As said, I need more closet space but my house is not that roomy. The matter is, I know what I like and my idea's are good but don't have the room to put it elsewhere. It's even worse now, the MacMini is gone, I'm working on a (temporary basis) Powerbook 12" now. Waiting for the new MacMini Core2Duo with probably Leopard/iLife 07.

hey, i finally got caught up with your set-up. i'm using an X-BOX 360 web cam once i heard that they worked after updating the Mac OS to 4.10 without any drivers to installed. and it works great! don't let diulei's comment get to you. i had clear a lot of junk to get my pics of my mini preciouses. now my desk is a mess again. gonna need a bull dozer. at least you got a serene wallpaper to distract you from your busy desk.
