Douglas S's Mac mini setup
|
I cheated: the legs, frame, and cable organizer are all Ikea. But the top is birch plywood (30" x 65") finished with about 7 coats of Satin wipe-on Poly. I bull-nosed the edge with a router to save money (edge veneer is fairly pricey). Anyhoo, it cost about half of what Ikea's top would cost, and it was tons of fun "building".
From left to right:
- Acom Data 320GB(boot drive)
- AcomData USB enclosure with a 250GB Maxtor
- Crappy cordless phone
- HP w2007 20" LCD
- 4th Gen 20GB ipod (I won't need a new one til this one dies)
- 1.66GHz Core Duo Mac mini with 2GB's RAM sitting on top of Belkin's Mini USB/Firewire hub
- HP 1012 LaserJet (I've had it for 3 years and still haven't bought a new toner!)
- On the wall is my homemade strat (ebay Ash body, ebay maple neck. The rest is Fender parts down to the pickguard screws)

Nice job on building the desk! You should have plenty of space there for more goodies. How do you like your AcomData drives?

The acom drives haven''t given me any troubles. One is a Maxtor, the other is a Western Digital if i'm not mistaken.
