Pierre-Louis Mac mini setup

My Mini is 3 days old, along with the 23 inch Cinema display and the LaCie Companion 250 Gb underneath the Mini. Otherwise, I have a USB LaCie external storage drive (200Gb), A LaCie external Dual Layer DVD Lightscribe burner, Kensington 7 port USB Silver Dome Hub, a 7 port combo hub (3 Firewire 400, 4 USB), the Bose Companion speakers complete with sub & sound pod with outputs, an original 4Gb iPod Mini, a 60GB iPod photo, Airport Extreme, HP Printer, Canon scanner and my workhorse 15 inch Powerbook. The powerbook is only a 1GHz but the drive was upgraded to 100 Gb on 1 GB of DDR SDRAM. The mini is in fact one of the units I had read about on the rumor pages. Its a 1.5 GHz G4 with also 1 GB of DDR SDRAM and with a 64 meg ATY RV280 Video card, Bluetooth, Airport. Weakness is the drive I assume, that is why I bought the LaCie Companion... Keyboard & mouse are Kensington wireless and the RF transmitter is the round flat wired pod next to the iPod Mini Also, in the laptop, that red Swiss Army Knife is a 1GB Swissbit jumpdrive. I am particularly proud of that as it is part of a 14 strong Swiss Army knife lection. Not shown are my more mobile things like my Airport Express, iPod Shuffle (512) and the original drive removed from the laptop which is now a 60 GB portable drive in an aluminum case.

dang you shure got some stuff. i like the table and bose nice touch. but the hp printer doesnt work at all. i hate hp from 5 years of experience and a canon would go with your style and is very reliable

Hi! - The Aston Wallpaper is from Mac Desktops. Its very nice but at that resolution, not as clear as it was on my laptop. As for the printer, its a cheapo but I rarely print anyway. I usually just PDF & save.

Actually, I am in Finance. Not exactlt Mac World. However, I was sold on the system by an IT friend named Bruno who also has a setup posted on this site.

Sweet! That Kensington wireless keyboard and mouse set look pretty cool with the ACD.

The Kensington keyboard is nice but more importantly, its very functional for multimedia, especially iTunes and it includes the Apple key with Applelike logo and an eject key. I love it!

Fair Question. Its philosophical. The way I figure, the Intels will be coming in Q1 of 2006. Give them a few quarters to improve and within a year, that Mini will be obsolete. My alternate choice was a iMac 20 inch G5. It will also be obsolete by then. I would rather have an obsolete Mini at $700 than a well over $2000 all in one machine. This way, at least I will have a good screen for the next generation.

you really like the Aston Martin, I work at Cush Aston Martin and Jaguar here in San Diego and I see the Vanquish all the time that is one bad ass car, do you like the new DB9

Hi Darrell. You are a lucky guy. I always loved Aston Martins, since the first DB5 in James Bond. They are very rare here in Montreal as the weather is not kind to luxury sports cars. The DB9 is nice but the Vanquish is the top of the food chain. Both too rich for my blood, but where would we all be without dreams!

How do you like your bose companion 3 speakers??

Hi TJ. The speakers are about as good as I have heard for a multimedia set. Obviously the sound is limited by the size of the enclosure but the sub enclosure is a heavy solid casing that reproduces realistic but not overpowering bass and good highs & mids from the satellite speakers. I am very happy with the set!

Hi, I just bought a Mac mini 1.42 G4, and I want to get the Bose Companion 3 Speakers too but just wondering that the Bose Companion 3 Speakers will work with the Mac mini??? I searched and find out that Mac mini's audio output is mini jack.... I thought Bose Companion 3 Speakers doesn't work with Mac mini 1.42 G4.
