Is that a Roland sticker I see on your mini?

Yes it is a Roland sticker. Great stuff. The mini is perfect for recording mostly because it is so quiet. This is a 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo that provides plenty of processing power for real instruments and software instruments, but doesn't soak up so much power to create an electrical "hum"

Sweet and efficient setup, everything within hands reach. I like it!

I try to keep the volume low. The Roland HD1 V-drums are designed with virtually silent pedals so the neighbor downstairs doesn't get too upset. Headphones get good use.

Nice studio! I'm not a big fan of that Rolandkit though... I got the TD 9KX: http://www.roland.co.uk/drum_room_catdet.asp?id=TD9KX It was pretty pricey though, got it for over US 2 grand Really nice setup though

Thanks Krametash! If I ever move out of the apartment, I will upgrade to the td9kx or above. Right now I gotta have the quiet pedals.

btw, you have my dream set....how do you use garageband with the roland drum kit? do you record live drums or another method? also i myself am looking to build a little setup for myself, are you happy with the mac mini as compared to an imac or (gasp) the macpro?

Hey chuxdaddy, the roland hd-1 can plug directly in to the input (1/8" jack) on the back of the mini, however I run it through the small mixer you see to the left of the desk. I love the mini for recording. Make sure you have at least 2 gigs of ram. The imac or macpro would be great too. The G5 would be ultimate, but well, you know. The mini does the job with no limitations.

What type of mixer is it? And what other interfaces might you be using to connect equipment to the mini?

i'm new here & an audio pro for over 30 years & this is my favorite "studio" pic! i also have a home studio & play bass, hand percussion w/ a Roland Handsonic & squeak by w/ keys. i suggest some acoustic treatment on the wall behind the desk. i've had good results w/ 2'x4' fiberglas ceiling tiles covered w/ thin fabric, stapled to the wall, to reduce room reflections. good luck w/ your music. any of it posted online for hearing, iCompositions or MacJams? 4 stars!

Thanks Yahoo, I like your idea about the tiles. I recently moved from this apartment to a house with a new space for my studio. Smaller area, but more freedom to record and play louder. I'll need to update the setup pic when finished. I'll let you know when I release my music. About two albums worth of unfinished music
