Modem and 100M ethernet can share the same jack. Ether uses pins 1, 2, 3 and 6. Phone lines use 4 and 5. You wouldn't want to plug a 6-wire phone cable into an 8-wire jack (since it could damage the jack), but an adapter cable would be trivially simple to make.

great ... specify the audio out as a combo jack/optical a la 17" powerbook/airport express and you've got a winner !!

for dual support RJ-45 and RJ-11 ports as one the RJ-11 port is a bit to tall to fit in the RJ-45 port, but otherwise it's a good idea just I don't mind rightside up USB.
