Chad's Mac mini setup
|
- Olevia LT37HVS (The one with the built-in tuner)
- Mac Mini ICD 1.66\1GB\100GB\BT Keyboard\2xAExpress\MS Wireless Explorer mouse
- Yamaha something or other receiver (Optical from the old Fischer DVD and the Mini)
- Yamaha 5.1 Sat. Speakers
- Dish HD receiver (I hate them... really)
Should I mount the TV on the wall? Is it worth the $150 to do it?? I don't really mind it the way it is... but it sure would be slick :-)

I love the cabinet, it has a nice black look, works well with TV

With the console everything is on now, it probably wouldn't be much of a change if you mount it on the wall. The console is just too tall. Now if you could get something smaller and put it there to the left or the right, it might work out.

Currently it's at 1280x720. The mini wont give me the option to run at the native 1366x768. Are there options for the intel mini's to chenge it a la displayconfigx??

I understand ya, Zro. & to the poster, I don't think you should wallmount it. What benefit will you get except that it will be hard to move. Plus with all the cables coming down to the receiver, mac, etc.. it might not look as tidy.

Seems there's too much light coming from the left. A window by the stairs? Hope you have drapes to cut down the glare. I agree with MIKE, the setup is OK as it is.

That TV looks bigger than a 37" for some reason. Guess it's the speakers on the side or something. Don't think I would bother mounting it on the wall either. It looks pretty sweet where it is!

Yeah, there's a door there that has a huge glass pane in it. It's not terrible (the picture's worse than it really is... a little overexposed; there's actually a patch of tile where that red rug is at the foot of the stairs). We're trying to think of something to cover it up, but it's pretty far down on the list of home improvements. It's not nearly as bad as the photo, though! --- Also - we painted the wall behind the tv a real nice "creamy coffee" light brown yesterday. It looks really good now. It was all just so.... khaki...

are you using the vga adapter in "in" on your set? a lot of sets under 50" won't support 1366x768. If your set has HDMI in, try a DVI to HDMI cable from the mini. My Sammy only goes to 720 via the VGA but will go full 1080i via HDMI. My Comcast HD box will go 1080i via component which opened up my hdmi port for the mini. Give it a try.
