Frisco R's Mac mini setup
|
Mini Mac and LaCie 500 gb HD stack along with a 500gb mybook HD attached by HDMI to 61" Infocus monitor and Samsung 20" monitor along with a Vizio 20" and two DirecTV HDDVRs and a Comcast Cable box.
We took our entire collection of 250 DVDs and moved them to the Hard Drive so we can watch movies at anytime on our big screen. We also have all the tuners split so that we (meaning me, not the wife) can watch multiple sports events at the same time. We have had this setup for over 3 years and its worked perfectly.

Great entertainment setup. Question, 250 DVDs at roughly 8gb per DVD equaly about 2tb of storage? Or you have them compressed (DVD shrink?) to about 1tb? I see you have 2x 500gb HD.

superbowl must always be at your house huh? I also have a large DVD collection on my computer and wanted to know what you use to either rip or shrink the DVD to the computer.

Zack & gmast. I used Handbrake software and ripped the movies as MP4 files using 2-pass encoding (excellent quality) each is approx 2gbs.

That's a lot of displays, can't imagine your electric bills just for home entertainment. Pretty nicely put together though.
