To be honest I'm not as crazy about the looks of it compared to the M9. Plus we'd have to pay international shipping here in the United States. Do you know if they have a distributor in the United States? _________________ 14" 1.25GHz G4 iBook (died)

| ninjamini wrote: | I'd say $130-150. Put it in perspective:
USB hub $30
FW hub $60
HD enclosure $60
Total: 150
cool factor: Priceless | SIIG 4USB+2FW hub: $39.99 (Frys, and that's 2 usable ports)
Metalgear FW/USB HD Enclosure: $49.99 (Frys, and a very nice enclosure)
Total: $89.98 (Which is a palindrome)
And the Metalgear enclosures have all the cool factor you could want. They're stamped aluminum "industrial" style with a black perforated grille. I got one of their 5.25" USB/FW enclosures for my daughter and it's got this glowing blue bar all around it (including in the pivoting front door) that blinks in time to the activity. It's totally bling. Plus, the palindromic price is hot hot hot! |

| How loud it is depends on how loud the drive you put in it is, I guess. At least that's my experience with the 5.25" model. |

Some drive enclosures have noisy fans. The hard drive mount in the enclosure can make a big difference too. You want something that is solid to keep the drive from vibrating. Vibrations can cause noise to come from other components. _________________ 1.42GHz Mac mini

I've learned some new information about the M9.
The resellers of the M9 in the United States will more than likely pre-install a hard drive into the M9 in different capacities. We're not sure if you'll be able to buy the M9 without a hard drive from certain resellers. The resellers can also rename the M9 to what ever they want. So don't be surprised if it's called something else when it becomes available.

Man, the whole reason I wanted this was because it came without a drive. It's so much cheaper to add your own hard drive that I wouldn't be able to afford these pretty externals with the capacity I crave. Grr, stupid U.S. resellers. Hopefully someone will sell one empty of eBay or something eventually so I can snipe it... |

That would be a major bummer. You know they'll jack up the price if they put a hard drive in. |

I agree, but OWC offers their enclosures with and without drives and the latest poop is that they will carry it. |
