Hi all,
Just downloaded Adobe Reader 8 last night. Has embeded support for Safari (nope not Firefox, but I'm sure it will be soon). Adobe Reader 8 for Intel is so much faster than the 7.0.8 Power PC version on the intel mac.

Download it now! Very Happy

I wonder why they didn't release Adobe Reader 8 as a Universal Binary. I'm also starting to wonder what is going to happen with Photoshop in the end. Will they release two flavors? Don't forget, they just released Soundbooth as Intel only.

Now that you bring that point up. That is a very good question.

'Cause preview just views and doesn't have the full functionality of the actual Adobe Reader.

And with the issue of separate versions for PPC and Intel. You can read this article and it gives some interesting incite into Adobe.

What does Reader do that Preview does not? Don't they both just let you view the document? Can you modify the .pdf in Reader?

If it was Adobe Acrobat then I would understand.

I use Adobe CS so it makes no never mind to me, but I am curious!

For the average person, Preview will work.

Reader just has more functionality, mostly geared to businesses.

Reader gives you slightly more information about the document - fonts, history etc - But there is really not much in it! to be truthful I just use it because I prefer the UI! call me fickle if you like!

Thanks for the tip. My older version told me there were no updates when it should have said there is a later version.
