Is there a program which will allow one to copy a CD on to the hard drive, and then "play" or "run" it as if it were in the drive?
I am interested in copying games and databases to the hard drive, so that I don't have to carry the physical disks with me.
Such a program exists in the PC world, and makes carrying large databases (or, in my case, many dictionaries) easy--they are all on the hard drive, and they run as if they were in the CD drive.
thanks for your help!

Disk Utility and Toast will both do what you're looking for _________________ MacBook Pro 1.83GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, Dell 802.11n card, 1.4TB external

I've never used toast. I HAVE used disk utility. However disc coping and stuff is hard in D/utility, and for that I use SimplyBurns (FREE!!!) _________________ Old Electronics Discussion:

Of course, using Disk Utility or whatever may work, but it sounds like there may be copyright issues with what you're proposing to do. If the original media are encrypted or "protected" in some way, these disk image approaches may not work, too.
