The Right Processor? Is this it?

In searching the web and these forums I am now going to upgrade my processor in my iMac 17" Intel Core Duo. Is this the right replacement?

I am thinking this is much cheaper and more satisfying than just buying a new one.

Can I put the 2.33Ghz processor in? I would have one of few 2.33 17" iMacs! I don't have room for much more than a 20" anyway.

Any insight would be outa sight!!

Yes, that should be fine. The Merom Core2Duo chips are pin compatible with the socket your iMac has.

Certainly an expensive way to go, but it would be unique.

You could save about $150 if you go to the Merom 2.16 ghz Core 2 duo. TIn my opinion, the 10% gain in processor speed with the 2.33 (which would translate to something less than that in actual operation) would be worth a 50% higher cost for the processor.
