Strange to come to this topic.
At first I didn't understand what you all mean by the word "avatar". I believe this word comes from Sanskit which is a dead language in India. It means,"shifting(out of one existence to anohter)" Which means one die and then being born again in different life form. This word mostly used with Gods, such as, God Shiva avatars to be born as Rama to save the world. We can use in man's live also. This life one might be a human being, but next life due to committing a lot of sins, after dying one's soul might go to a dog womb and become a stray dog! Surely this is a common belief among the Hindus and most people in the East. I find it funny because you all use it as strange names, strange pictures to identify with yourselves. I often read ClunkClunk's articles and see ClunkClunk as his Avatar--that rubbing head girl. I don't have my avatar though because I don't know how to creat one in this tread. _________________ i want to join as the member of this site but could not. I guess I forgot to mention, though you should be able to tell, it's a cross between Mac Apple & Linux Tux.
I'm an Apple fanatic & a Linux crackpot... _________________ G4 Mac Mini | 1.25ghz | 1gb | 40gb | OS X 10.4.11 | 37" Westinghouse HDTV

On the option bar at the top of this webpage, click on the 'Profile' link. Now scroll to the bottom of the page to create your avatar. You can use a bitmap file of no more than 80 x 80 pixels, 20KB maximum size. _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b

barnz is a derivation of my first name, Barnaby.
My avatar (as of this writing) is a comic-strip character: Barnaby from Barnaby and Mr. O'Malley from the 1940s. (Some of you may know Crocket Johnson's later work Harold and the Purple Crayon).
A juvenile character seemed especially appropriate as I am a newbie around here.

Thanks Johny Boy. Now I know how to create Avatar. But I don't want to have one now. I think this is due to a different culture related to this word. I often feel I have to die before I avatar to be something!!! I still enjoy with my life. So it's better not to have an avatar now. _________________ i want to join as the member of this site but could not. Please make it simple as i dont understand many many things here.

It's a joke Hackermovie. I am not too traditional. Actually I thought of putting my cat's name and it's picture as my avatar. It's a persian cat and I love him. So I thought he would fit in with my avatar as avatar has become an English word of diferrent meaning now. But I don't have it's good picture which I like. I shall try to do it later. _________________ i want to join as the member of this site but could not. Please make it simple as i dont understand many many things here.

TheDoctor was my nickname in my uni football team.
A sarcastic reference to my "clinical finishing" in front of goal.
That was the best part of 20 years ago and has stuck with me.
The avatar I use is of my favourite "Dr" that is familair with most people. _________________ He's not all there.

I am an attorney so, the 'lawman' is where that comes from, but it is also coupled with my picture somewhat.
I also am an avid shooter and big fan of the Stephen King Dark Tower series. The picture is the cover of the first book "The Gunslinger." The gunslinger was like knight in his world and keeper of law and sanity. _________________ -lawman |

In the UK, we have a very popular breakfast radio show hosted by a guy called Terry Wogan. He gets loads of mail from his devoted listeners and pretty much does nothing else but play music and read out letters on air.
The letter writers almost make it a point of honour to go by a false name that plays on words (just like your username). Some good examples: Russell Sprout, Austin Space, Malcolm Tent. I wish I could remember more, they're very original. _________________ Intel Mini 2.0GHz C2D (4GB/120GB/SuperDrive/10.5.8 ), 120GB WD Passport, Logitech ergo k/b
