Miglia intros TVDuo dual TV tuner
Thursday, October 26, 2006
Miglia Technology today announced TVDuo, the world's first dual digital TV tuner for the Mac. "TVDuo finally brings a complete DVR experience to your Mac desktop," says Eric Ferraz, Chief Technology Officer at Miglia. "By integrating two digital terrestrial tuners, TVDuo lets you watch and record all your favorite programs without having to decide which to miss and which to watch. TVDuo is compatible with the DVB-T standard (called Freeview in the UK and TNT in France) and works in most European and Asian countries."
Bundled with Elgato's EyeTV2, TVDuo enables users to record TV, remove advertisements from recorded footage while watching live TV, access EPG data from the internet, schedule recordings, and export recorded shows to a video iPod or Mac applications such as iDVD or Toast. TVDuo will be available in late November.

Sell it to me!
This dual tuner sounds pretty nice. I also think the styling and colors really complement the Mac mini. Anyone see a price? |

| So... does that thing work in Canada? And even if it does, my cable provider probably won't even let me connect it, they just everybody to pay 600$CAD for the only model of PVR they offer. |

I'm sorry for the confusion. Miglia hasn't announced the price yet. As more information becomes available, we will post it here. |

Unless I'm missing something (which is very possible!) these tuners aren't compatible with US digital broadcasts. So is this good news for our European friends, but not so much for the U.S./Canadian contingent?

It would need to be ATSC for the US. _________________ 1.25GHz Mac Mini / 1.8GHz iMac G5 / 2.0GHz C2D Mac mini (2009)

It puzzles me bacause according to eyeTV's website, the use of "multiple eyeTV tuners" isnt supported official but can be done.. Does this mean that eyetv are introdusing support for more than one tuner within the eyeTV software? _________________ 24" iMac 2.16GHz

I am also confused when it comes to what works or does not work in Canada. Right now I'm not concerned with price. I like to save money but normally I like to know what works best and then decide what features are worth paying for. I don't even think TiVo is in Canada. I have no idea, satellite with DVR, Cable with DVR, or one of these things and then which service |

Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick but... why do you need 2 tuners when in Eyetv you just use "ctrl+New Window"? I've got the Synergy/Terratec Gadget for DTT and Eyetv and regularly do this to watch something other than whats being recorded.
Apparently it's an undocumented "feature" but its so easy to use I haven't had a reason to read the instructions to check that.
