But hey, I have a 250gb hard drive and a 12 month warranty. I dont even worry about it. If I want to fiddle about with a computer, I take the PC apart!

It's good to hear that installing memory is easy. Now I have to find out how doable is installing a hard drive. In my experience, hard drive failure is the most common computer problem. Almost half of my hard drive, at work or at home failed within two to three years time. I have had a brand new IBM PC at work and the hard drive fails within a year. I bought a brand new Hitachi hard drive (120GB) for my home PC and it fails after about two years plus.
I am planning to buy a machine that will last me for the next five years and I think during this time, the hard drive is very likely to fail.
Are there any instructions, or pictures on the Web about butchering an Intel iMac? I have not been able to find so far.
It will be terribly pity if any one of the component in the iMac fails and I cannot use it because sending it back to Apple for servicing is too expensive to be worthwhile. |
