I'm affaid to say that doing a CPU upgrade on any iMac is very very hard. The G3 models do have CPU upgrades but there isn't much of an performance boost(550MHz).
As for the G4 models there is a company that does them but the processor itself is soldered to the logic board so instillation will prove to be a nightmare.
And the G5 and Intel models have the fastest processors on the market and i not sure if any third party companies have tried to make an upgrade for it.
Sorry mate
But i'm sure there will be more in future. _________________ - MacBook Pro, 15inch, 2.4GHz, 2GB, 160GB HDD, SuperDrive. I Love this Mac!!!!

Topgunn on the MacRumors forums did it with great success (Core 2 Duo Merom T7400 QLZT Engineering Sample) and he put some nice pictures up. Check it:

As you can read and see from Zinns link above, at least Topgunns iMac had a socketed processor so no soldering may be required. However, you need to be very careful: if the CPU does not slip in easy, you need to check all pins. If you are not familiar with such work, you may need some help by a professional. |

Or instead of a professional, just someone who builds PC's a socketed CPU is an extremely easy upgrade, and the LGA775 are pretty easy too. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."
