No offense, but I'm not crazy about the sphere design. A flat bottom would make it look like the base of the flat panel G4 iMac.
|
You're not understanding. the imac base was half a sphere not a real whole sphere. I meant a little bit flat at the bottom...enough to keep it from rolling but not a lot so it still looks like a sphere.
In any case the imac base was equally nice but not what i meant, without the lcd it would be more like the Mac Igloo. |

Or an Airport Express Base Station (which is definitely due for a redesign). |

Still the most eye pleasing router/WAP on the market, but yea, a refresh is likely in the pipeline. _________________ | Mac mini 2011 | Apple Thunderbolt Display | Apple keyboard and Magic TrackPad | 2Tb Time Capsule | Apple TV (3) | iPhone 4s |

That proposed design, as others have pointed out, is just too tall.
My current mini configuration seems right for my needs. A Core Duo sitting on top of a 0.75 TB miniStack V2 - total height just 3.5 inches.
Functionally, it meets all my needs and I don't lust for the Core2 Duo and a bit more computing emph.
Esthetically it is not so good given the huge blue LED and the imperfect fit between the two units. Wrapping it all into a single casing would improve the appearance and reducing cabling at the rear. Then it begins to approach perfection.
JMHO. |

True, and I do love toast... | As long as it puts the butter on the toast after I watch last nights Daily Show on iTunes, after a cup of OJ. _________________

I think it's kinda slick looking, and about the right size, I think.
There are some issues though; I'll try to post my abberations made to it by end of weekend.
