A new mini, a new iPod nano, a new iMac and ho knows, new portables. An all-in-one upgrade at the 12th september conference.

I made some calculations that told me that a new mini with a Core2Duo at 1.66 GHz would be 50 % better that the core solo one.

Apple never giveth, and Apple never taketh away!

Does anyone else think the longer this goes on, the better chance that Core 2 Duos will up in the Mac mini? I'm starting to lean that way.

I certainly hope so. One thing I DO KNOW... the longer this goes on, the longer it will be before Apple gets any of my $$$. C'mon, Apple, upgrade already.

Apple.ca shows the mac mini ships in 1-2 business days rather then 24 hours it was showing last night...

When does apple usually announce their stuff, at around what time?

If you want a core2duo in a mini you can just put one in yourself. It's not hard.

I just want a better video card in it.

I agree with the video card also, but if you want to upgrade the current minis, add another 250$ (minimum for a C2D processor) to the grand total...it comes out pretty expensive...

See www.appleinsider.com for progressively updated info this morning; so far www.thinksecret.com has nothing, but that may change. Other Mac/Apple rumor sites may have more, too, especially as Sept. 12 gets closer.

I have to suspect that the brief store closure this morning implies something more than JUST a product refresh or additional model - I'm guessing a completely new product of some kind. Now, let's see... the rumored plasma TV with a built-in Mini never materialized at the last Macworld Expo... Smile

AppleInsider wrote:
In a digital invitation sent out to US-based media this morning, Apple confirmed that it will hold a special media event on September 12 to introduce new products and services.

"It's Showtime," reads the invite, which displays a white Apple logo floating amongst four crisscrossing Hollywood movie spotlight rays.

The event is scheduled for 10:00 am local time at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, Calif.

Developing story...

No mention of minis in that article; perhaps because the 23" iMac is a bigger story????

Apple has confirmed the 12th:

http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2018

I've heard nothing about minis so far. The rumor mill says 23" iMac, movie downloads, iPod updates, and an AirPort Express for video.

I'm still hoping for Meroms in minis, though. It would make sense to roll them out across the line of minis, MacBooks, and iMacs.

The 12th is going to be exciting!

Smile

Jamie

The famous Jason O'Grady prediction. He puts something nutty and improbable out just before every Apple event. I think he's Dvoraking (trolling for hits), myself.

Unless, of course, he was right, but just early:
