Adesso Intros SlimMedia Mini and BlueIce Mouse
Monday, August 21, 2006

Adesso has recently introduced its Mac SlimMedia Mini keyboard and BlueIce USB Optical Mouse for Mac users. The Mac SlimMedia Mini keyboard ($29.99) boasts membrane key switches to deliver a crisp, responsive touch for faster typing. The keyboard's integrated multimedia hotkeys offer intuitive, one-button control of audio playback and Web browsing. It also features a slim compact design, multimedia controls, bus powered USB with two downstream ports, and compatibility with Mac OS 9 as well as Mac OS X.

Adesso's BlueIce USB Optical Mouse ($17.99) features 800 DPI resolution, which offers twice the accuracy of typical mouse movement. It features a blue LED on the scrolling wheel that allows the entire mouse to glow in the dark. Optical functionality is accurate on almost any surface and the integrated three-button design is fully programmable, including the scroll wheel.

I don't think this thing will sell well unless they make a BT version of it.

I'd rather be Happy Hacking! Wink I've heard some good things about Adesso keyboards though.

In black? With Microsoft buttons? Whit a MS logo on it? Confused

Anyway, I opted for a Inland 71100 keyboard which works pretty good and has some handy alucolored extra buttons. One in particular: a power switch! I get a nice windows to shut down, restart or to put to sleep or cancel. Does not exist on the normal Mac board! Pity the numlock is always on and no led burns than (it does on a pc???) I hope the color is just right and not Macally-way-to-white and the extra buttons are not chromeplated as I saw once.
The mouse is funny, they are sold here in Europe for more than a year, made in China and called "Crystal". I paid 12 euro's, nowadays sold by Sweex with their ugly logo on top. Not bad, but not as good as a Logitech! It is funny but the led can be distracting and spoils the set (the keyboard mentioned is not backlighted as far as I know) and many Macusers had cut the led out or put tape on it and so on!

I use a Microsoft ergo keyboard now and wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm not a big fan of their OS but they do sell some nice keyboards/mice. In fact, I'm thinking they should sell off the OS business and focus on peripherals.

Beware, Adesso makes decent keyboards, but their Mac driver support is nearly non-existent!

I've had this one below for about six months and it's pretty good, but I have no way of disabling the "tap-as-click" function. Not until some kind Mac software supports it (like USB Overdrive).
