Ok well there are several problems. My sister is using an ibook G4 with a 1.25 GHz Proccessor, 512 MB Memory, and a 40 Gb HD.

First problem. The computer has been running a little slow lately. It will sometimes be fast on Safari, and sometimes be slow. It doesn't have a lot of files on it, so I don't think it's the hard drive. I don't know what to tell her.

The Second problem is the biggest. We've run into a bit of an ipod problem. Her old computer was a windows machine. Well, when she got home from college in May, all her songs were deleted from her computer. She kept her ipod on manual update so she wouldn't lose them too. That's not so much the problem though. Now we can't get them on the ibook. That too is not so much the problem. She would like to make it so that she can download songs from her ibook to her ipod. That is all that she cares about. If someone here could help me so that I could explain to her how to, that would be great.

Thanks,
Andy

This may just be the internet connection and could depend on if it is DSL, Cable, Dialup, Wifi or hardwired or if there are others using the bandwidth. this is hard to figure out without more info but you may want to follow some of these problem solving steps:

First try repairing Permissions. Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utilities and select the volume that you want to repair then click on Repair Permissions.

If there are still problems and you have made sure that you have updated the software via the Software Update from the Apple Menu (Apple menu > Software Update) and Restarting the Mac hasn't helped. Then try the following!

If you haven't already, this is a good time to create a second account on your Mac just for testing purposes. I have a account that I have named Admin. Set up this account with all the same programs and set it up the same as your regular account is. Then check to see if the same problem occur. If the problems disappear then the problem lies in your regular account. Login to your regular account and open your home folder> Library> Preferences folder. there you will find labeled preferences for all of the programs, such as com.apple.finder.plist for the Finder or com.apple.dock.plist for the Dock. One at a time take the preference file for the programs that you are having problems with and put it in the Trash. Do not empty the Trash Though!!! Then open up the program that you have had the problem with and it will rebuild the preference file and hopefully the corruption will be gone. If not shut down the program and reinstate the old preference from the trash.

If the problem is occuring in more then the one account the problem is most likely in the main hard drive Library folder: Macintosh Hard Drive > Library > Preferences. The process is the same for trashing these preferences as above.

As a last resort you will have to Trash and reinstall the problem programs. First go to the Applications folder and drag the problem programs to the Trash. Then you will need to discard of all remaining pieces of that program that bear its name. You can use Spotlight to find these pieces to be eliminated. Once you have rounded up all the pieces and have gotten rid of them you can go ahead and reinstall the programs from the Mac OS X DVD or the prgrams installer. Once the installs are completed and you restart the Mac make sure that you run the Software Update from the Apple menu.

I just used a great solution called Senuti to move music back onto my daugters computer from her iPod. If you follow the directions you will be able to move all the music from the iPod on to her iBook with no problem at all! Then it is a simple matter of syncing the iPod with the iBook!

Hope this helps![/url][/b]
