That has to be one of the dumbest moves ever.
I no longer have any desire to get one of the new iMacs, so I guess my wallet should thank Apple for that.

It will be interesting to see if Apple comes out with a T-bolt enclosure. My guess is that they will. If you purchase it with a machine and AppleCare the T-bolt drive will be covered for 3 years as well (just like the Airport products currently are covered when purchased with a machine and AppleCare). |

☝
is an esata version soon to have t-bolt

this has all but t-bolt.
When you realize that the 2010 mini has a bad weak hdd cable.
It just seems that the 2011 will push your towards units like the above. Not so bad of an idea. Also owc has made a no slip pad for the mini which would help it stack onto either of the two above raid cases. _________________ 2010 Mm 2.4 C2D oem 320gb hdd 8gb ram

So much yelling and this is so easy to resolve:
I assume somebody who is able to swap a HDD in an iMac is equally capable of shorting pins 2 and 7 with a wire... _________________ Wojtek |

From what I read, this doesn't fully resolve all the issues, but it is a start. |

I don't see why Apple does this. I'm sure it's a small percentage of users who actually upgrade their machines, so it's not like it cuts into Apple's profits significantly. All it does is piss these users off and they are very technical/vocal. _________________ mini #1: 1.4 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HD

Yeah, it turns off the HDD fan completely, but the computer passes diagnostics. If swapped for SSD, this is a non-issue, if a larger HDD is fitted - just install some 3rd party fan management software. _________________ Wojtek |

Almost as bad as Sony pissing off PS3 owners who want to install Linux on a PS3, obviously they are unfamiliar with the type of people who would want to install Linux on a PS3. Apple, however, seems to be abusing their little monopoly a lot more boldly than in the past, oh well if it goes far enough south I'll just run OS X on non-Apple hardware, which is what this really does, it makes people go to more functional options that just need a slight tweaking to make it work. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."
