Hey people, there is this guy selling his imac G4 out there in the auctions for a very cheap price and i wan to get it, but the owner has forgotened his password and it cannot be log it. Can this problem be solved it is reformated with an os X cd ? _________________ Acer Desktop- XP, P4 2.8Ghz, 1GB, 80GB,

This is nothing that a clean install of Mac OS X won't fix! But if you want to reset the password and see what there is on the system and send the guy a CD or DVD of his files you can do the following.
Insert the Mac OS X CD and restart the Mac while pressing down the the letter C Key. , which starts up the Mac from theCD and launches the Mac OS X installer.
On the first installer screen choose Installer --> Reset Password. When the Reset Password screen appears, click the hard drive that contains Mac OS X. From the first pop-up menu, choose the name of the account that you want to reset the password for. Now make up a new password, type it into both boxes.
