|
|
I currently have an older ibook and was hoping that I could connect the mac mini to it for use of the keyboard/display but more importantly the general portablitiy. Can this be done? And if so will the ibook recognize the mini on the desktop? The main reason for my attempts at this configuration is that I want to use this type of set-up in a classroom and spending more for another whole computer-ibook, mac pro- is to much money at this time. If anyone has any thoughts I could use your insight.

I'm sure you could connect it in Firewire Target Disk Mode, would that help? _________________ iMac intel CoreDuo 17" 1Gb

Just to clarify, Tenex's suggestion would mean the mini would show up as a FireWire HD. You would still use the iBook's display, keyboard, processor, etc. You wouldn't gain the speed of the mini over the iBook in that configuration.
There is no way to connect the two and use the display/keyboard only.

But I don't think it's a solution for you. The Mini would essentially be an external HDD connected in this fashion - you could spend less and get more storage from an external HDD. You really need a separate screen, keyboard and mouse to make use of the Mini's processor. _________________ iMac intel CoreDuo 17" 1Gb
