I'm a new Mac Mini owner and wanted to mimic my dead Lombard keyboard. I purchased a USB Adesso keyboard touchpad AKC-540U. My Mini and the keyboard works great, but the touchpad isn't recognize by OS 10.3.9 or OS 10.4.2. The Keyboard Mouse preference tabs only has Keyboard- Mouse- Keyboard Shortcuts available. There is no touchpad menu. I also tried this keyboard on my Lombard Powerbook OS 10.3.9 and the touchpad still doesn't work. Another test on my Thinkpad Win 98SE had both the touckpad and keyboard working. After re-boot I unplugged and re-plugged USB keyboard. No luck. I also tried the terminal fix;
sudo kextload
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBTopCase.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBTrackpad.kext/
Still no luck. The vender I purchased this keyboard from sent me a video of this keyboard operating on an Imac OS 10.3.9. There must be a fix. Help, Adesso support hasn't responded to my emails.
After trying 3rd party extenions to activate the touchpad without any luck. I purchased a used keyboard touchpad combination on eBay. The keyboard in a Motion Computing mini KB-1011US. It works. The touchpad also taps to select and scrolls on the right side. The sensitivity is taking some getting used to. I'm still baffled by the fact that Keyboard/Mouse extension doesn't have the trackpad tab to allow the tap select to be turned off. I'm glad both the keyboard and touchpad work, but I would like to control the pad better. Any suggections? _________________ 20th Century Collectibles at http://www.findgreatstuff.com |
