Okay, so I got my mini all set up with Boot Camp and Winxp. The first time I booted into xp everything went fine, and I set about getting xp set up how I like it. Then, using the control panel I set OSX as my startup disk. I didn't boot back into Windows for several days. Finally I needed to use a program that was Windows only, so I was forced to boot back into it. I selected Winxp as my startup disk in OSX and rebooted. The mini restarted fine with the chime and all, but then it went to a black screen and just sat there. I let it sit for 5 mins. or so, and it didn't boot into Windows, so I powered down the unit and restarted it. The warning screen came up saying windows didn't start properly, blah blah, and I chose to boot into safe mode. Booted into safe mode fine, rebooted, and Windows loaded fine. I figured it must have been a fluke, but when I went to boot into Windows again today it did the same thing.

Anyone else having a similar problem? This is on a core solo Mini, running xp pro sp2. I also may have a dead RAM slot, but not sure if that is related. OSX runs without any problems. Also, the xp install disc is one that I slipstreamed with sp2 myself. I've used it on another non-mac system to install xp, and that system is running fine. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

That could be the problem, but what makes you say "may have a dead RAM slot"? Did it pass the Apple hardware test? Is the correct amount of RAM showing up in Windows?

Please see this thread:

Basically, I ordered a refurb core solo with 512 MB of RAM. Currently the system profiler identifies only one 512 sitck in slot 1. Other users have reported similar findings only to open thier macs and discover both slots populated, but one of them not working. Haven't had a chance to open mine up yet to check.
