For years I have been running a rather simple app called Super Pi on my PCs to see how much faster than my previous ones.
It started at 1:05 minutes with an eMachines Celeron and over the years has gotten progressively faster down to 44 seconds on an AthlonXP 3000.
After I got Windows installed I tried it on this Core Duo expecting something in the fifty second range.
The Core Duo ran that one million test of Super Pi in 36 seconds. Yikes, that is fast.
I know that this is a rather meaningless benchmark, but I am impressed with the "bang for the buck".

it doesnt happen to be freeware or shareware does it ?
id like to let it loose on my pc laptop and ibook running vpc just for kicks and to see which one wil come out on top
( the desktop pc hopefully i can then justify the money i sunk in to that monster ) |

Calulating Pi to 1 million digits (using Super PI, of course) on my 20" iMac (2.0Ghz Core Duo) took 31 seconds. But, get THIS...That was in XP running in a Parallels Workstation under OS X!

Actually Super Pi should run at almost 100% in Parallels Workstation. The virtualization layer doesn't emulate core math and CPU instructions, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was absolutely no slow-down at all for a program executing only native math code on an in-memory dataset. In short, you'll probably get the same time in Boot Camp. |

| i noticed the same thing when running halo in windows using bootcamp damn does halo run and look good and even better windows loads so much faster |
