I haven't experienced this, but usually the most invasive thing that a Windows game will change is to update to a required version of DirectX. Do you recall if this happened during your Doom 3 install? If so, you might be able to roll back to the previous version and be back in business. Not sure though, just a hunch.

yeah i have pondered that possibility, but i deleted my partition and started over, and the problems seem to still be happening... might this relate to something overheating in the mac mini?

when i play warcraft 3 it starts hiccuping/stuttering, and it seems to happen with both the graphics and the audio... and this is after a fresh install... i have dumbed down the settings, but it seems to happen intermittently... i hadnt tried wcIII before on the partition that i had doom installed on but gta did not do this until the doom install, now when i play newly installed games they all do this...
