I have put my Mac Mini G4 PowerPC 1.42 GHz on ebay for sale.
Dunno if I will get the macbook. It looks really stylish and cool. But with first release, there are always teething problem. hope they get iron out and wait for the next revision.
The only product left for Intel Transition is the PowerMac. Rumours has it, it will be called the Mac Pro. |

Here's a nice chart comparing the MacBook and the MacBook Pro--the new model actually stands up pretty well to the pro models:
http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/images/comparison_chart.html
$200 for the color black and 20GB of hard drive is a bit of an Apple rip-off in my mind, especially when you're going to have to spend money for a RAM upgrade. Though I'm sure a lot of people will pay the premium.
Overall, it looks like a good machine at a good price to me. I think the sweet spot for buying is the white 2.0GHz for $1299.
Apple's gonna sell these by the truckload.

I agree with picaman. I think the MacBook (black) will sell very well.
I still don't understand why Apple won't made the touchpad with a dual sensor to mimic a 2 button mouse.
It is really nice, with all the features. It would be nice to have a dedicated video card. |

Not true. There's the XServe. I'd just as soon they didn't change to Intel there, but I expect they will. |

If I had to relate it to another Apple product, I would relate them to the ipod line. The first Macbook is the nano, and the second two are the videos, with a choice of black or white. _________________ Andrew

I would say thw whole line is related to the iPod line - nanos are the MacBooks 1GB for the cheapest, then 2GB for the hi-end white one, then the 4GB for the black. The 15in MacBook Pro is the 30GB, and the 17in is the 60GB. NVM the shuffle, it doesn't count |

Amazing how crappy my 12" iBooks seems today.
As much as I want one of these, I just can't justify replacing my less-than-a-year-old 1.33Ghz G4 iBook. _________________ -=iMav=-

It's even more amazing how crappy my PowerBook felt. So, I went and ordered a 2.0GHz white MacBook. It will be my first Intel powered Mac. _________________ 2.4GHz MacBook Pro/4GB/320GB HD

Hmm, The last 24 hours has really forced me to examine in excruciating detail, the fundimental difference between the words 'want' and 'need'! I'm not sure which way it'll go yet, but I expect i'll let you all know! |

It's still the lightest Apple notebook though, isn't it? That's something.

It certainly IS light (which I can really appreciate, hauling it back and forth to work every day/night). _________________ -=iMav=-

Congrats!! I've got a 2.0Ghz 20" iMac at home, so don't feel TOO sorry for me having to stick with the iBook.
I'd be very interested in knowing how the keyboard is on the new MacBook. I'm not picky...but I can tell you the one on the iBook's are pretty craptastic. _________________ -=iMav=-
