Ill AS-U-ME the best way is to create an image of the drive as it sits before I get started. If Im wrong please LMK.
Im using the disk utility to do so but am getting a "Resources Busy" error message. Im a new Mac user so am unsure where to look for running resources to shut off. All programs are shut off as far as I can tell.
Any help would be great. |

You may want to download Superduper for free at versiontracker.com if your goal is to just get the job done. |

Hey again, I think I had the same thing when trying to back up before installing BC.
Try a safe boot to see if you can do it in there...
-> Just after you hear the startup tone press and hold the down the shift key.
-> Release the shift key and you'll get a grey 'safe boot' loading screen... this could take a while. Try loading Disk Utility & making the image when in this mode.
Can't remember if it was being in this mode that I was able to finally make an image, or if was in normal mode after it had done the error checking that safe boot does, that it finally worked.
Good luck! My XP install really flies btw, faster than on most XP machines I use at work. _________________ Don't drink & post. |

Hindsight is 20/20
Im partitioning my Ext HD to include an OSX partition so I can make a boot image. I will try safe mode and go from there. I also got SuperDuper and have it on hand.
Nothing is ever easy when trying to learn a new OS. |
