I don't think the point is humor. The point is to (hopefully) to be a little voice in people's heads showing there is a better way.
All the problems they point out, are common to all PC users of all levels. Most, if not all, PC users just think scumware and virus removal is just an unfortunate required part of owning a computer. They see the virus ad and say "wait, there are computers that don't get viruses?" and with that thought they potentially become a mac user. That's all Apple really needs and is going for here IMO.
The ads are a bit on the cheesy side, but all in all I think they are the most effective and intellligent ads apple has ever done. |
