OK, time to get down to brass tax. Ive been reading around here for awhile and its time to pull the trigger on a Mini.

I need a Mini capable of running 1366 X 768 to my Sharp Aquos 37 inch LCD. I know I will have to use a third party app to get the resolution exact but my question is which setup will work best.

Im deciding between at Core Solo with 1 Gig RAM and a Core Duo with 512 MB RAM, money being the main obstacle.

I plan to connect my 250G Lacie external drive to the Mini for streaming music and video (HD included) to my entertainment system. And I am going to either use the DVI or HDMI connection on the Sharp.

Other than that, the Mini will be used for surfing, e-mail, etc. Nothing too intensive. I realize that a Duo with 1Gig would be optimal, but I cant quite spend that much right now. What will I lose performance wise if I dont have the Duo, I am mainly concerned with video quality for HD.

I would go with the Core Duo model if playing HD video is your main concern. I've read that the Solo has more trouble keeping up with HD videos.

You might want to look at this thread.

My aquos will not display 1080p, only 720p and 1080i. There are only a few TVs out right now that will, and they are $$$. So it does not look like I will need the extra processing power (at least not right now), from what was mentioned on the other thread.
