Hi All

I am new the forum so excuse me if this subject has been covered but i really nned feedback from all you guys and girls.
I have an Intel mac mini (duo core) i want to rig it up to my 32" lcd tv, i have purchased a dvi to HDMI cable, i have tried rigging it up and it does not seem to be the best picture in the world when you play a dvd and the screen image does not fit exactly to the LCD tv screen.
Also on the mac mini there is a "Combined optical digital audio input/audio line in (minijack)" can i get a cable that can be plugged into the jack and then plugged into my amps optical in, bearing in mind the two opticals are different sizes.

Any one got any good advise, any good websites to take alook at such a set up etc etc.

You can see the available resolutions when connected to a LCD, Plasma, or DLP television. Setting the Mini to the native resolution of your TV will result in the best picture quality (consult the TV manual if needed).

With my first generation Samsung DLP TV, the native resolution of 1280x720 was not offered on the Mini (probably due to errors in Samsung's DDC software implementation). To solve this, I purchased one of the two display programs discussed on many forums - this allowed me to add the resolution.

I can't tell from your post what resolution you have selected on your Mini. Also, please keep in mind that most sets have Aspect controls (PC-Wide, TV-Wide, etc). This control may need to be set properly to display full screen. Also, DVD's are recorded in serveral different aspect ratios. Thus, some discs will have black bars on the bottom and top of the screen despite full screen setttings (something to keep in mind).

I believe the audio cable you need is Toshlink to MiniToshlink. You can also purchase the Toshlink-Toshlink cable and a separate mini adaptor.

Hope this helps.

It's Toslink, you can either get cables with one 3.5mm style optical jack to standard Toslink connector or some cables are Toslink to Toslink with an adaptor. The laser emitter is built into the end of the 3.5mm jack socket on the mini so you need the optical adaptor that looks like a 3.5mm (1/8") jack.

Try ebay and search for mini toslink.

Cheers,

Tim.
