runs fast as hell on my 1.5 solo
faster than my Athlon XP 2600 to be totally honest...
Photoshop CS2 under XP starts up in about 5-6 seconds on here, vs. 30-45 under OSX (i realize that's mostly due to it not being a universal binary, but it loads even faster than PS CS2 did on my 1.42 PPC mini) |

pretty darn quick.
Firefox launches in 7secs on XP as opposed to 15+ secs on MacOS X |

Are you using the Universal Binary for OS X, 1.5.0.2? It's much faster than 1.5.0.1 which isnt a UB. _________________ Computational Media UGrad @ Georgia Tech

Thanks Paul.
I just used the .dmg from getfirefox.com
I just installed the UB 1.5.0.2 version and it is much quicker.
But XP seems to load a few secs faster. Its very very close though And I tried it from from first launch and launching when its cached.
1st Launch
XP - 7-8 secs
MacOS X 9-10 secs
2nd Launch (cached)
XP 1-2 secs
MacOS X 2-3 secs
My rig is a single core with 2 gigs of RAM. |

Where can you get the UB version of FireFox?
also what about ThunderBird? _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."

ok those are in UB but they are tests so when eill the final version be out?
i would probably just use camino and mail until the offical final of firefox and a final for thunderbird is out. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."
