Interesting stuff. Cnet's gripe centers around the lack of something called "3:2 Pulldown Processing".
This link says that it "corrects the flaws that occur when film is transferred to another format":

I've never heard this mentioned anywhere else in relation to the Mini. Is this a serious omission on the part of Apple?
I'd suspect that it's a "nice to have" thing, but not a "need to have" thing. I've heard few subjective complaints about the quality of the video from the Core Duo Mini.

I dont plan on using the Mac Mini as my DVD player. I am more interested in playing HD trailers from the net, EyeTV2 files, etc.
These reviews can be confusing at times.

I haven't heard of this mentioned before in relation to the new or old minis..I thought 3:2 Pulldown Processing was a feature found in progressive scan DVD players?? Time to Google it up! |

Hrmm that's funny, I had my mini turned on a 45 degree angle away from me and I was still able to use Front Row ... I was actually amazed at how well it worked WITHOUT line of sight

Yep my TV makes more noise. Even, the XBOX makes a LOT more noise.

No, but you can pause and hold the rewind to go back in small chunks. I was able to easily rewind a DVD and play some words someone said that I missed with no hassle at all. I thought viewing frame by frame was only something perverts did

Hrmm ... they didn't even mention Elgato's EyeTV. I have the EyeTV DTT and it works a treat. We get a better reception via it than we did normally. One thing about TiVo's is that you HAVE to hack them, in order to get them to work properly. Might be different in the US, but you certainly have to in Australia.

The only problem I've noticed was it's size. The black bars at the top and bottom are quite large compared to normal.
