Review: DecalGirl Mac Mini Skins
Wednesday March 20, 2005
DecalGirl sent us some samples of the Skins they're offering for the Apple Mac mini. If you're looking for a way to add some colorful artwork and protection to the top of your Mac mini you might want to check these out. The Skins retail for $9.99 and come in 32 different designs with names like Ectoplasm, Flashback, Nebulous and Hyperspace. One of the first things we noticed was how bright and sharp the colors look in person, they really make your Mac mini stand out. DecalGirl covers the Skins with a clear protectant layer giving them a nice glossy finish while protecting the Skin from smearing or fading. The Skins are printed on premium grade vinyl using a patented repositionable, removable, reusable, and washable adhesive backing. We can report that after removing the Skins there were no marks or goo left behind on our Mac mini! We only have two minor gripes about the DecalGirl Skins for the Mac mini. First the fit of the Skins could've been a little smaller and second they could've made a cutout for the Apple logo, however, that may not work with the way some graphics are layed out and printed. Overall we can recommend this product.
Pro's
- Colors are bright and vivid.
- Skins have nice glossy finish.
- Quality and thickness of vinyl.
- Leaves no marks or residue on Mac mini.
- Added benefit of protecting case.
Con's
- Fit of Skin was slightly oversized.
- No cutout for Apple logo.
- No Skins for sides.
Ryan from DecalGirl gave us more information about the designs pictured below "Amoebic is my personal favorite. While not as intricate or detailed as some of our others, the look is very surreal. Crime Scene is a cool piece done by an artist we work and Creation is a good skin for those into fine art."

Without a doubt my choice is the creation skin.
What a way to decorate the Mac with art and this skin scene in particular I am very partial to the original work. Where can I get one in Australia?
Regards

I have no idea about Australia but they are pretty cool. They might ship international? |
