I bet they want to see Leopard first at WWDC, so they can steal a few more things. |

Has Microsoft ever had an original idea?
And sadly enough, I'm serious with that question. |

No way. They can't get the software they have now working correctly, let alone adding new stuff. They've already dropped more features than there are new things remaining.
This is a huge, huge opportunity for Apple. You'll see Leopard by fall, mark my words. By the time Vista (the software to catch up to OS X) comes out next year, Apple will at least be on a .3 or .4 revision of Leopard, and will have released a system that leaves Vista in the dust.

More of the same from Microsoft, and agree, there is no way that they will be able to incorporate any major innovations from Leopard into Vista that quickly. If anything this just gives Apple even more time to make Leopard a better OS to Vista.
You know Bill Gates is furious right now. Just look at how many features they have taken out for the initial release and they still cannot release Vista in 06.. Pathetic.. I am also very interested to see real world hardware requirements for Vista. If upgrading to Vista forces many users to have to upgrade hardware, Apple will be in a position to really push their own hardware with OS X on it... _________________ Vote for me, and your wildest dreams will come true.. - Pedro Sanchez, "Napoleon Dynamite" |

Actually on second thought I might be wrong about that. It might make sense for Apple to release Leopard to coincide with Vista, thus stealing some of Vista's thunder with an OS that totally leapfrogs it. Think how much added function Leopard could have given that much extra time in development.
Of course, that would mean no Leopard until...um...

God, Microsoft is stupid. They haven't come out with a new operating system for years and now the new one is delayed. This is a perfect chance to say,

Jamie, thanks for posting this. I looked through many of the posts and all I can say is, I AM GLAD I SWITCHED TO OS X!!!!
What Microsoft wouldn't give to have bought OS X from Steve Jobs and NeXT before Jobs sold the OS to Apple. I honestly think that Microsoft may be better off coming out with a major update for XP and starting over again on Vista if the rumors on this site are true... You can tell that many of the Microsoft employees are not only in awe of Apple, they really respect them.... _________________ Vote for me, and your wildest dreams will come true.. - Pedro Sanchez, "Napoleon Dynamite" |

I don't know about you, but I would rather work for Apple. In fact, I bet many of them already have their applications on file with Apple.
Listen, Microsoft is never going to go away with all their cash, but there has been a ground swell movement going on for the last 2-3 years of people moving away from Windows. These people are finally waking up and realizing that they have other options. More secure and stable ones, I might add. If Apple times a Leopard release right with this Vista delay, it will just be another opportunity for them to steal away a few more people sitting on the fence. |
