If your TV connects via DVI or HDMI, the new Intel Minis do a great job of sensing the resolutions through the digital connection and auto-configuring, so all of this will most likely be unnecessary.

The article is targeted to people who are connecting older HDTVs without digital connectors, but the procedures would be applicable for anyone having severe display issues.
