If you are having problems starting up a cinema display with the mini, try this:

restart you mini.
hold down the option key on the keyboard.
wait till screen come up with restart button and right button.
once the watch in the upper right hand coner has stopped.
a icon will apear for your hard drive.
click on the hard drive icon, and click on right button.
The computer will then continue with it's normal start up mode.

Problem fixed....

I have noticed this to be a problem associated with the mini and the new

yes I have a 1.25 and a new 20" cinema display... I never had a problem with an old CRT that I had.... But when I bought the cinema, and had this problem I called apple care...

They said it was a comon problem when you hook the mini up to one of the new cinemas.

It will start up with out doing this, however you have to wait a long time for the boot process...

First you see a box in the middle of the screen with a globe, then an old os9 folder icon with a question mark, after a good five minutes.. you are ready to go. Restart and it's the same thing all over again.

We'll I guess you learn something new everyday! That would be a pain in the neck though. Did they ever give you a reason?

nothing, didn't tell me why it happens.. just how to fix it...

the guy was pretty cool though.. and so I asked him if it's been a problem, and in a round about way he said that it's not unheard of.

Must say though.. the screen is amazing on here....

Colors are so bright an vivid. well worth it.

"Colors are so bright an vivid. well worth it."

Maybe we could trade monitors? The Apple Cinema Displays are so nice. I wish they would come down in price about 10%. Razz
