I have opened my brand new MacMini core duo for the third time in order to upgrade RAM from mediocre 512 MB to 2 Gigs. The first RAM was send by mistake - it was DIMM (as specified on Apple Homepage). Closing the Mac and waiting for the exchange against SDO. I was asking my German dealer not to ship ´stacked´ RAM but actually they did not know what that means. Does it mean ´singele sided´ they asked? In the mean time, I suppose both is equivalent. However, the SDO RAM (double sided!) fit into the MacMini and I started up the whole thing again. Great performance upgrade.
After about 60 Minutes the whole thing got weired: Sporadic reboots and finally hang-ups happened more and more frequently. The Mac was getting quite hot (the fan is still running though!). Finally I had to open the Mac one more time. I did not breathe like the guy from the video by the first time - but this time I really did. Moreover, the MacMini does not look like right out of the box anymore. One more thing: beware the flat cable connecting the drives to the motherboard. If you accidently remove it, pull the clamp, put it in again and tight up the clamp. Good luck. |

It sounds like you forgot to reconnect the cable in the front by the battery. If you don't connect that cable back together, the fan will always be on. I don't know if that was part of the issue, but let us know if it was. _________________
