What does everything think the new Mac Pro (PowerMac) is going to be comprised of?
We've seen the iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac mini being made of essentially notebook processors with notebook memory/motherboards... etc.
What kind of items do you expect out of the Mac Pro?
Minimum requirements? _________________

Well it's going to have to have a whole new processor, because the core duo cannot support dual chips in one machine. But I'm thinking fast, desktop RAM, and really nice video card. Since they seem to have made almost everything better with the current Mactels I think they will do that again with the Mac Pro (stupid name) _________________ Mac Mini, 1.25 Ghz, 40Gb, 512, combo drive. I agree Mac Pro is a stupid name. With Apple not wanting Power in their names, like the MacBook Pro. Who knows what the PowerMac is going to be named. I just dropped off the Power, since it's not going to be in there anymore. _________________

How about this...
Dual-core 2.5GHz-3.2GHz "Conroe" processor, maybe x2
modified 965 chipset to allow for 2 processors (also get rid of serial ports, etc)
GeForce 7800 GTX/ATI Radeon X1900 XT of course made to work for Mac.
Maybe a early showing of the DDR3?
Slightly different case, but still aluminum
Yeah well... who knows... guess we will see by the end of the year. _________________

I hope not, I hope they use standard "PC" video cards. I have a nice PCI-E 7900 GTX that would be quite happy in an Mactel Pro....... |

I hope Apple does not drop the Power from the PowerMac. I don't know what else they would call the new Intel based professional macs.
What about ProMac? |

| Macintosh Pro? That sounds OK.... I am sure they will have some mean video card in it and maybe dual bays for CD's, always nice. |

they would probably do something like the Xeon for quad core since they do that with them already. _________________ "You must control your future by taking command of your present, and fixing and learning from your past."
