Mac Minitosh
Saturday February 4, 2006
We wrote an article about the Mac mini SE/30 mod earlier this week. Now, we give you El Toozero's Mac Minitosh mod for your viewing pleasure.
"I have put a Mac mini inside of a Macintosh Plus. I have been waiting months (literally) to do a writeup on this. Now someone else has built one. My mod works fantastic, and is looks 99% stock from the outside, USB where the RJ-11 used to be, and all other ports (ethernet, firewire) are hidden behind the batter cover," writes El Toozero. "After gutting the machine, the parts were test-fit, and surprisingly a lot of the work has already been done! The DVD drive of the Mac-mini sits perfectly against the floppy drive."
We really like the black paint job and front USB ports! There are more pictures and information about the project on his website.

Nice mod, but why black?
I guess black is "the new white"... |

Sales of the 5G and nano have proved that point. The Mac Minitosh was made for the 5G. Now wouldn't it be great if Apple followed this trend and came out with some black computers. I bet a black iMac or Mac mini with black top would outsell their white counterparts. |

Only because white has been the only color available, if you would've swicthed the color schemes around and offered only black the same would happen. _________________ 1.83ghz Macbook, Stock, Dell 2007wfp

True, but I still think people prefer black electronic and computer equipment. I could be wrong. |

I think it looks better if it's aluminium + white.
Black aluminium would rock, though. |

Silver and white would be cool. How about something like this in clear with a touchscreen.

| I have a G3 AIO (aka "The Molar") that would work real well for this, and the monitor is real sharp, but I don't have a Mini laying around that I could use for it. I might give this some thought. |

| I love those G3 AIO's, and have wanted one for some time. It would make a great housing for a MiniMolar, plenty of room for extra hardware! |

| Mine just has the floppy, and I upgraded the proc to 400 MHz. It has to be the heaviest computer I ever have ever owned. I bought it at a school auction for 1 US buck. |
