First, I begain just making simple things. Implementing and playing with tags. I used lots of sites to get a thorough understanding of HTML. Later I would think of designs I would like to see and see if I could implement them. And also copying a pages source(simple to begin with) and then changing things on that page to figure out how "real" pages are made.
You should be able to pick it up easy.
PHP is next on my list. But now Im learning ColdFusion for work. |

I bought an earlier edition of HTML for the World Wide Web Visual QuickStart Guide. I think it was the second or third editon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0321130073/
It's well worth 15 bucks and easy to understand. |

For someone just starting out I would suggest checking out a site called WebMonkey! This site has tutorials for everyone from the novice to the Web Master and they are easy to follow. If you want a place to start building a website from html this is the place to start! _________________ 13' Macbook 2.0ghz C2D w/2gb RAM and 120gb HD

You should get the O'Reilly PHP book. That's what I use. It also becomes a decent reference after you've learned a lot.
I would recommend just diving in and starting a WP blog on your mac. It's PHP, pretty well written, and mixes PHP and HTML, naturally. That's how I started learning PHP. If you like to tinker with things and can learn like this, that's probably the best approach.
Here is a list of PHP resources, http://www.cmairscreate.com/php.html with an interesting PHP site being http://www.phpfreaks.com/. I do extensive development in PHP, but I just jumped right into WP and started playing around. _________________ Computer Engineer
